All projects within this age group fall under two categories of art experiences - process and product art. Process art focuses on the learning experiences that occur during the process of completing the art project and is not focused on how the end result looks. Process art can also be discovery based. Product art focuses on the completed result (product) and is less focused on the process of completing the artwork. With product art the path to the end result is not as important as the look of the final piece. Of course some projects will fall into both categories however you may notice that the projects posted may fall further into one category or the other. My goal when posting projects for this age group is that the children completing the projects will be able to practice basic art and fine motor skills. Projects will include skills such as coloring, gluing, cutting, ripping, painting, color recognition, shape recognition, etc.
