Skills/Topics:

-Drawing

-Cutting (optional)

Supply List:

-White Crayon

-Paper (white preferable)

-Bleeding Tissue Paper

-Spray bottle

-water

-Scissors (optional)

Alternative Supply List:

-If you don’t have a white crayon then you won’t have a hidden drawing but you can draw with another crayon color. If you don’t have crayons then use a dark material such as a sharpie and add light colors with bleeding tissue paper or markers.

-If you are not sure if you have bleeding tissue paper test the tissue paper you do have. Bleeding tissue paper is a type of tissue paper that spreads its color onto a paper when it's exposed to water. In order to test your tissue paper take a small section, put it onto paper and add water with a spray bottle.

-If you do not have bleeding tissue paper then you can use washable markers

-If you do not have a spray bottle use a paintbrush, if you don’t have a paintbrush you can use your fingers but they will get stained like when tie dye is used. If you don’t mind being “dyed” then go for it but if you do mind you can wear gloves.

Overview:

During this project your child will have fun making a creative drawing with white crayon that will stay hidden until they add color with tissue paper or markers! Watch as their drawing appears!

Project Directions:

Step One:

Create a hidden drawing on your paper with white crayon. Your drawing can be what you chose and does not have to match the picture in the example.

Step Two:

Cut or rip bleeding tissue paper. Skip this step if you are using markers.

Step Three:

If using tissue paper wet an area of the paper and add a piece of tissue paper onto the wet spot on the paper then add water on top of the tissue paper. Watch as the color in the tissue paper spreads onto the paper. More water means more color, less water means less color. Overlap your tissue paper for a better color effect. Leave the tissue paper until it is dry then remove it  or take the tissue paper off immediately. Watch your hidden drawing appear!

Warning: If you touch bleeding tissue paper when wet your hands will get dyed like when using tie dye.

If using washable markers color the paper using lots of different colors. You don’t have to color inside the lines as long as the whole paper is colored. Then spray water onto the paper and watch as the colors mix and your hidden drawing appears!
