Homemade Salt Dough

-If you don't have a paintbrush your child can finger paint

Overview: 

During this project your child will have fun making and using homemade salt dough. Once done creating with the dough you can bake it then paint it or continue playing with the dough.

 

Project Directions:

Step One:

Follow the recipe in the picture below.

Step Two:

Use the dough to create a sculpture. You could have your child use the salt dough to create whatever their heart desires, practice their cutting skills with play dough scissors, roll out the dough and use cookie cutters, roll out the dough and use toys or found objects to create textures by pushing each object into the dough (featured in the pictures), or come up with your own fun salt dough ideas!

Step Three:

Bake it or store it!

If you would like to keep your creation permanently bake it to 250 degrees fahrenheit until dry (1 to 2 hours depending on thickness). Once baked you can paint it if desired. If you would like to use the dough again for continued fun at a later time, store the dough in an airtight container or bag.
