-Pipe Cleaners
-Model Magic
-White Copy Paper

Alternative Supply List:
-If you don’t have pipe cleaner you can use twistees or thin wire
-If you don’t have model magic you use styrofoam
-If you have copy paper use any other paper
-If you don’t have a black crayon you can use any other coloring or writing material
Overview:
In this project your child will engage in line creation and line recognition skills. Start by talking about different types of lines… straight, wavy, zig zag, loopy, etc. Your child will get to learn the difference between two dimensional and three dimensional lines in this sculpture project. You can additionally talk about color recognition skills while your child is working on this project if desired.
Project Directions:
Step One:
Discuss different types of lines. Draw different types of lines on the white copy paper with a black crayon. The lines should be drawn from the long edge to the other long edge of the paper.

Step Two:
Trace the crayon lines with pipe cleaners.
Additional Learning Opportunities:
-Talk about the difference between the drawn lines and the pipe cleaner lines. The
drawn lines are 2-D and the pipe cleaner lines are 3-D.
-Talk about the colors of the pipe cleaners as your child is forming the lines.
Step Three:
Roll a small piece of model magic into a ball then flatten one side of the ball.
Step Four:
Cut long pipe cleaners in half. Your child might have trouble with this step if they are a beginning cutter. Cutting pipe cleaners can be tricky! Stick the pipe cleaners into the model magic. Then let it sit and dry until the model magic hardens.
